White oak
Also called European oak
The species currently dominant in both aesthetics and resale signalling across the Greater Toronto Area, at a Janka of roughly 1360.
Wide-plank European white oak is the current aesthetic and resale sovereign in the GTA. That is a market observation, not a claim about performance.
Species selection made on appearance alone produces a floor that looks correct on handover and wears wrong within a few years — hardness has to be discussed against the actual traffic and household.
